Image metadata is usually called Exif data, and can include the date / time of capture, GPS information, type of camera used, and the type of software used to edit photos. If you share images on social media, anyone can potentially download them and view exif data.
Here's how to delete photo metadata on iOS 11.
How to Remove Photo Metadata for Anonymous Image in iOS 11
To view, edit, and delete photo metadata, you must use a third-party app. The app we use personally called Metapho. Another app we've found is called ImagExif. What we like about Metafo is having the 'Safe Share' option. You can quickly share photos with or without metadata directly to social media, or your roll camera.
Of course, photo metadata can be useful. You can use it to organize your photos by location, camera model, or date. This is why we only delete metadata when we share to sites like Facebook or Instagram.
The website does not need to know where we took the photo, or when. Being able to remove photo metadata can provide peace of mind.
