It's New in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are no different from each other, also from Pokémon Sun and Moon last year. It's best to highlight the exclusive content that both games have, but - especially if you're trying to decide whether to check it after beating Sun and Moon is worth today.
It's New in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

The Pokémon company provides a list of useful new features, but we have added some of our own findings.

  • New Mini Game: Mantine Surf

Scattered on the beach of Alola is a chance to see this new minigame. Mantine Surf is what it looks like: Coach can reach Mantine and explore the surf. Doing a special trick will give you extra points for your overall score, as it will avoid other Pokémon hanging out in the waters. The prize is then awarded based on that score; These are usually Battle Points, which can be traded for further rewards.

Your mileage may vary on this one; I'm not a big fan of particullar. But surfing is still a worthy hobby for anyone looking to get more out of their adventure.

  • New online mode: Battle Agency

In the online multiplayer center, Festival Plaza, players will find additional battlegrounds among their return offerings. It's called the Battle Agency, where players can hire Pokémon to try to fight with new team types. This Pokémon is a combination of supply and Battle Agency trainers who also check out the Festival Plaza. This is somewhat reminiscent of the Pokémon Pokémon Stadium feature, which is a great way to test the specific Pokémon combat readiness you face on the fence.

  • A new experiment: Fairy-type

There are extra Island trials to be handled in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and this is a fun and annoying thing. After defeating Necrozma during the climax of the game - which we will get in the second player sent to Mina, the master who has woken up behind the Fairy type challenge. This is a great quest and a serious power test, as players have to get around Alola to find all the other Island Captain Trial for rematches. Finding them is a total pain in the neck if you ask me, but at a more difficult fight is a worthy exchange.

  • The real gym!

The biggest difference between the seventh Pokémon game and their ancestors is probably the lack of a traditional gym. Island Trials replaces gym leaders; Z-Crystals replace the badge. I find this to be a nice change from the speed of return during Sun and Moon, but for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, I find this challenge to be a little stale. (It does not help that they are almost the same in this game as the previous game.) Thankfully, there is now a gymnastics fighting arena to participate. Quartet coaches against players as they head to a leader. This is a familiar setup with important differences: This gym can be turned on every day.

  • Totem sticker

Like everyone who grew up on Nintendo 64, I was a sucker to collect-a-thons. That's not to say I love them, but I can not participate anyway. For others with this compulsion, a pair of these games throw Totem Stickers into the mix. This gold badge decorates the building around Alola, and tearing it up will result in gigantic Pokémon players. Yes. It's ... rad kind, actually.

  • A legendary Pokémon gets more spotlight

Necrozma is a weaker presence in Sun and Moon, but the legendary Pokémon plays a bigger role in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Extending the role of Necrozma has interesting consequences for his story, which is always the best part of the game's seventh genes. It features in climax battles for coaches towards the end of the game storyline, and even appears in some new form. The legendary Monster Solgaleo and Lunala even merge with Necrozma and gain new looks and abilities in the process.

  • Expanded postgame - and against familiar villains

Not just Pokemon monsters will come back. The leaders of every enemy organization of the previous Pokémon game appeared in a pair of new games, forming a supergroup called Team Rainbow Rocket. Why it takes so long to do this is beyond my ability, but this is arguably one of the most radical setbacks for nostalgic fans in this upgraded version. Players will not meet them after they defeat the Elite Four, at which point the Rainbow Rocket Team plays a major role in the postgame. (They even have their own Castle where players will fight opposing challenges).

  • More Pokémon were arrested

I cover this in our story about the differences between each version, but to recap: Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon allow players to capture every legendary Pokémon between them. Which one is accessible depends on which game players you have, but that's what trading is for. There are also a handful of new Ultra Beasts and exclusive mythical monsters that can be collected as well. Many of these can be accessed by traveling through wormholes, this game is so weird.
